My Birth Story

Zachary James Sommer was due on July 28, 2001.  However, this day came and went - without Zachary.  I was dilated to 2 cm since July 25.  I had been praying for a faster delivery than I had with Charity and was having contractions - just not the hard ones yet.  So we waited.  On Thursday, August 2, I had hard contractions off and on all day.  That evening they were pretty regular and about ten minutes apart.  So we went to the hospital to see what was happening.  I was still only dilated to 2 cm, so I went home - a little upset to say the least.  Here I was having hard contractions and nothing was happening.  Zachary was still hanging on.  After we went home it wasn't a half an hour when the contractions started getting closer together.  I waited until they were about 4-5 minutes apart and we went to the hospital again.  The lady at the ER even asked, "Weren't you just in here?"  By this time I was having a hard time standing or even speaking for that matter but I smiled and said "Yes."  This time when they checked me I was dilated to 4 cm - HOORAY!!  I was taken to Labor and Delivery and it was about an hour and a half later, Zachary was born.  I couldn't hardly believe how fast I delivered him.  Praise the Lord I was able to deliver Zachary natural and drug free!! John was a wonderful coach throughout the entire labor and delivery.  I'm glad God is in control over our lives.  He knows what's the best timing in everything!  We are very thankful for our healthy baby boy!
